1: My wife and I had a real no holds barred talk last night about all the things wrong with our marriage.
2: That TV debate between those two guys running for senator was sure a no holds barred affair. They spent more time saying nasty things about each other than they did talking about their plans.
下面我們要介紹的一個(gè)習(xí)慣用語是:to let one's hair down。
To let one's hair down描繪出一幅可愛的畫面。 To let one's hair down的實(shí)質(zhì)意思也就是解除表面的裝飾,使一切顯得很自然、真實(shí)和放松。 To let one's hair down不一定用于女子,也可以用在男性。
3: The president has to make so many official appearances that he seldom gets a chance to let his hair down and enjoy life like ordinary people.
To let one's hair down
4: Sally, we've been good friends for a long time. But lately I get the idea you are very much upset with me. I wish you'd let your hair down and tell me what's wrong to make you feel this way.
No holds barred
That TV debate between those two guys running for senator was sure a no holds barred affair. They spent more time saying nasty things about each other than they did talking about their plans.
let one's hair down 自然真實(shí),輕松坦率
例句:The president has to make so many official appearances that he seldom gets a chance to let his hair down and enjoy life like ordinary people.

1: My friend Joe is certainly an oddball. In the summer he puts his shoes in the refrigerator at night so his feet will be cool when he goes to work in the morning.
2: And another oddball is Bill, especially when it comes to food. Can you believe it, he even puts catchup on his ice cream. Talk about oddballs!
Odds and ends。
3: Okay, I'm all packed now, except for a few odds and ends I'll put in a handbag and carry on the plane with me.
4: One good thing I got done at the office today was clean up my desk. I'd let so many odds and ends pile up that you could scarcely see the desk itself. But I got busy and took care of everything.
My friend Joe is certainly an oddball. In the summer he puts his shoes in the refrigerator at night so his feet will be cool when he goes to work in the morning.
odds and ends 零碎東西
One good thing I got done at the office today was clean up my desk. I'd let so many odds and ends pile up that you could scarcely see the desk itself. But I got busy and took care of everything.
