我相信I Believe
I believe in love because my wife taught me how.
I believe that a dance with fear leaves you winded, yet wiser.
I believe that having children has made me a better man.
I believe that the truth tastes like straw- berries — the really big ones.
I believe in friends who stand by you.
I believe you have to suffer for your passion.
I believe that the happiest people are those with the fewest masks.
I believe that too many people stay in jobs they hate to get more vacation days, so that they can spend more time away from the jobs they hate.
I believe that we give life its meaning.
I believe that liars run from the truth like vampires from the sun.
I believe that courage works its way from the heart to the hands.
I believe that knowing yourself is one of the finest things you can do.
I believe in blue kites with orange tails.
I believe in living passionately, leaving nothing inside, coming on as hard and fast as a steam train, and touching souls.
I believe in making yourself vulnerable in order to find your strength.
I believe in listening for the sound of your own voice.
I believe in you.
What do you believe in?

A Night in the Open
Night is deadly boring under a roof; but in the open it passes lightly, with its stars, dews1 and perfumes, and the hours are marked by changes on the face of Nature.
What seems a kind of temporary death to people choked between walls and curtains is a light and living slumber to someone sleeping in the open. All night long he can hear Nature breathing deeply and freely; even as she takes her rest, she turns and smiles. And then there is the stirring hour unknown to those who dwell in houses, when a wakeful influence goes abroad over the sleeping hemisphere, and all the outdoors gets to its feet.
Then the cock first crows, not to announce the dawn, but like a cheerful watchman speeding the course of night. Cattle awake on the meadows; sheep break their fast3 on dewy hillsides, and find new lairs4 among the plants; and the houseless men who have made their beds outdoors open their eyes and appreciate the beauty of the night.

On Doors
The opening of doors is a mystery act: it has in it some flavor of the unknown, some sense of moving into a new moment and a new pattern of the human rigmarole.
It includes the highest glimpses of mortal gladness: reunions, reconciliations and the bliss of lovers long parted.
Even in sadness, the opening of a door may bring relief: it changes and redistributes human forces. But the closing of doors can be terrible. It is a confession of finality. Every door closed brings something to an end. And there are degrees of sadness in the closing of doors. A door slammed is a confession of weakness. A door gently shut can be the most tragic gesture. Every one knows the pain that comes just after the closing of a door, when the loved one is still near, within hearing, yet already far away.
The opening and closing of doors is part of the serious flow of life. It will not stay still, or let us alone. We are continually opening doors in hope, closing them in despair.
