M: Wow, I’m so glad you took me here.
W: Yeah, Beijing Opera is pretty special.
M: I like the costumes and the music. What’s your favorite part?
W: I’ve always liked the different colored faces, even if they’re a little scary sometimes!
Text 2
W: Are you ready to go to the bank with me? It’s 3:30.
M: How long will it take us to get there?
W: 30 minutes.
M: I need another half hour to finish my report. Is that OK?
W: No problem. They close at 5:00 today.
Text 3
W: We’ve already been to several museums and some parks. Where are we going to go today?

W: What are we going to do there?
M: Spend the day going shopping. I think it’ll be fun.
Text 4
M: You look a little uncomfortable. What’s the matter?

W: Your hair is very long. Are you getting it cut short?
M: Not really short. I think shoulder length is fine. Are you getting your hair cut, too?
W: Not today. My friend is getting married, so I’m just getting my hair colored and styled.
M: I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
W: I will take pictures when the hairdresser is done.
M: Oh, it’s my turn now. Talk to you later.
W: OK.

Text 9
Ladies and gentlemen, you are at the beginning of an amazing journey. It will take all of your physical and mental strength. I would like to congratulate you all for making it this far, but I’m afraid the hardest part is yet to come. During the next couple of weeks, you will visit some villages, temples, and even a school, high in the mountains of the Himalayas. Finally, we will reach our destination at Base Camp, where you’ll have one of the most beautiful views in the world: the south face of Mount Everest. Tomorrow, we hike north from Lukla, and two days later, we will arrive in Namchee village, where we will rest for the nights of the 22nd and 23rd. For the next six days, we will slowly climb to the south camp, stopping at five different mountain cabins along the way. Our return journey will take us on a more direct route and is much shorter. If the weather is good, we should arrive back here by the afternoon of the 4th. We fly back to Kathmandu the following day.
