推薦信的寫作要求
在國內(nèi)愿意親自給別人寫推薦信的人很少,一般是些德高望重的老教授或者從國外留學(xué)歸來的年輕老師。所以大部分中國申請者都是自己以推薦人的口氣用英文把推薦信寫好,然后再請推薦人簽字。在這種情況下,最好先用漢語打個草稿讓推薦人看過以后,如果推薦人同意再翻譯成英文形式。
所以說確定了推薦人之后,在寫推薦信前應(yīng)該先仔細(xì)斟酌一下應(yīng)該著重表現(xiàn)哪些方面。如果僅僅從網(wǎng)上搜索模板,修改一下的話,那樣就會發(fā)現(xiàn)基本上所有中國學(xué)生的推薦信是千篇一律的,這樣并不能給學(xué)校的評審委員留下印象,也就沒有起到應(yīng)有的作用,所以推薦信種有一個主要的閃光點是非常重要的。
對于推薦信的內(nèi)容應(yīng)該寫得具體一些還是較為籠統(tǒng)這個問題,在我看來,級別較高得推薦人寫的推薦信不能太具體,因為在社會地位較高的人工作上比較繁忙,如果寫的過于具體,反而會對推薦信的可信度大打折扣。不過如果推薦人跟申請人關(guān)系比較熟悉,就可以寫的相對具體一點。并且可以用一些比較具體的事例來作為他推薦你的理由,因為一封推薦信如果僅僅有贊美之詞,可是沒有事例作為佐證的話,那就會顯得較為空洞,也不能增加錄取委員會對你的任何了解。同時為了增加推薦信的真實性,也可以少寫一些并不是很重要但是很中肯的小缺點,其實從另一方面來看,這樣不失為一種聰明的策略。
對于申請人來說,要用三種不同的口吻推薦自己,所以要注意以下幾點:①客觀評價自己的成就,避免贊美過度。推薦信應(yīng)該表明推薦人對于申請者的動機是有一定了解的,并能解釋申請者進(jìn)一步深造的需求。②列舉出具體的事例,避免表達(dá)意思太泛泛。推薦信中對于申請者的重要素質(zhì)和能力要求有事例的支持,作為你的教授或者老板,舉出你在工作和學(xué)習(xí)中的具體表現(xiàn)應(yīng)該也是非常容易的。③轉(zhuǎn)換語言風(fēng)格和思維角度,這樣可以增加推薦信的可信度。對于一些重要的成就和優(yōu)點進(jìn)行描述時,應(yīng)該從推薦人的角度出發(fā),還有就是語言風(fēng)格上、用詞上要注意變換,避免出現(xiàn)自己在自述信中常用的詞語和語氣,避免三封推薦信出現(xiàn)雷同。④要避免語法、拼寫、還有一些明顯的用詞錯誤。如果推薦信中出現(xiàn)錯誤,這對推薦信的作用也是有影響的。⑤推薦信切忌寫的過長,一般來說500英文以內(nèi)比較合適

推薦信的結(jié)構(gòu)
推薦信的結(jié)構(gòu)形式是比較統(tǒng)一的,尤其是開頭和結(jié)尾兩段大概表現(xiàn)的意思基本上是一樣的。①第一段首先應(yīng)該介紹一下推薦人與申請人的關(guān)系,在什么情況下認(rèn)識,相識多久;并且應(yīng)該明確在第一段中表現(xiàn)出推薦人非常愿意推薦申請人到這個學(xué)校就讀。②一般第二段就是推薦人對申請人的評估情況,也可以表現(xiàn)一下推薦人為何對申請人印象深刻,然后舉例證實一下推薦人對于申請人的評估結(jié)構(gòu)。如果所表達(dá)的東西比較多,這一部分也可以分為兩段來寫。③第三段內(nèi)容主要是對申請人特質(zhì)的一些概括,或者是推薦人認(rèn)為申請人在這個專業(yè)以后的發(fā)展?jié)摿ψ鲆幌旅枋?,還可寫一些對學(xué)校評審委員的感謝之類的話。
