  would的用法1:would可用作助動(dòng)詞will的過去式,主要用于第二、第三人稱,有時(shí)也用于第一人稱(詳見will)。用于陳述語氣時(shí)可構(gòu)成過去將來式、過去將來完成式、過去將來進(jìn)行式。用于虛擬語氣時(shí),在“would+動(dòng)詞不定式的一般式〔完成式〕”結(jié)構(gòu)中與should用法相同(詳見should,但would主要用于第二、第三人稱)。would還可構(gòu)成一種委婉、溫和、謹(jǐn)慎的語氣:①“would like〔desire, wish等表示意志的動(dòng)詞〕”表示愿望、意向、選擇等意義,用于各種人稱, like后接動(dòng)詞不定式一般式〔完成式〕作賓語,也可接名詞或代詞作賓語。②“It would seem〔appear〕”,“主語+would think〔imagine, say〕”等結(jié)構(gòu)表示或然性,常用于第二、第三人稱,這時(shí)would可看作助動(dòng)詞,也可看作情態(tài)動(dòng)(參見will)。③would還可和其他動(dòng)詞自由搭配,構(gòu)成委婉語氣。

  would的用法2:would也可用作情態(tài)動(dòng)詞will的過去式:用于陳述語氣時(shí)可表示過去的意志、決心、習(xí)慣或反復(fù)性的動(dòng)作; 表示關(guān)于過去的或然性、似真性或揣測(cè); 當(dāng)句子主語是非生物的第三人稱時(shí),表示具有某種能力。用于虛擬語氣時(shí):①表示虛擬結(jié)果,用于和虛擬條件句相呼應(yīng)的主句或含蓄條件句中,表示意志、決定或決心。②構(gòu)成委婉語氣,表示“請(qǐng)求”“愿意”“決心”“堅(jiān)持”,此時(shí)既禮貌又強(qiáng)烈、果斷。③表示“一定會(huì)”,可用于各種人稱。④would rather〔sooner, just as soon〕之后接不帶to的動(dòng)詞不定式或從句(謂語動(dòng)詞用過去式或過去完成式,連詞that常省略),是表示希望的謙遜說法,意為“寧愿…”。⑤主句謂語用wish,從句用“would+動(dòng)詞不定式的一般式”,可表示將來的、沒有把握的希望,主句也可省略,從句用if only引導(dǎo)。⑥主句用would(帶或不帶主語),從句用虛擬語氣過去式,可表示現(xiàn)在沒有實(shí)現(xiàn)的可能; 用陳述語氣過去式,可表示還有實(shí)現(xiàn)的可能; 從句用虛擬語氣過去完成式,可表示與過去事實(shí)相反。⑦從句用“would+動(dòng)詞不定式的一般式”,可表示對(duì)于將來的愿望。⑧would有時(shí)可直接帶一個(gè)賓語,相當(dāng)于wish(to have),也可接表示愿望的賓語從句,意思是“要是…就好了”。
